Bell tower of the church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur

Presentation

The church’s bell tower is Romanesque. Its construction dates back to the 12th century and is the only vestige of that period, the rest of the church having been built at the end of the 19th century. In the 12th century, the bell tower was a choir tower, as it housed the sanctuary. However, its function changed when the present choir was built. It has two storeys and a gable roof.
