La Petite-Pierre

Château

Presentation

The castle dates back to the 12th century. Its fortifications were extensively modernised by Vauban in 1684 to strengthen this strategic point for controlling the passage between Alsace and Lorraine. Although it is not possible to visit the castle, which is now occupied by the office of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park, the outer courtyard is still open to visitors, with information panels on its history. The château has been listed as a historic monument since April 1922.
